Dogsbody was originally an independent settlement along the Purify River near the communities of Graves' End and Nohaven. Established by a crew of sailors from the ship, Qirqin, that hailed from lands around the Black Sea, Dogsbody became home to many Ottoman Turks, Transylvanian and Walachian Goths, as well as Crimean Tatars. They brought with them an abundance of slaves from their African route, introducing yet another cultural base to the land that would eventually become a vital part of Roach City. In subsequent years, Dogsbody would play a major role in the industrial movement of the city. It became home to many mechanical, chemical, and manufacturing plants as well as distilleries and breweries. On July 23rd, 1988, one such chemical plant, Etarie Industries, would experience a major toxic disaster. An explosion released the contents of two barrels of chemical 2-4-5-T, as well as a large cistern of carbon tetrachloride into the immediate vicinity. 280 men and 21 women died as a result of the explosion. Due to exposure, many others suffered from Chloracne, and in severe cases, liver disfunction resulting in Porphyria. A 2 mile section of Dogsbody was declared a disaster area and has been condemned indefinitely. Despite its hardships and an extremely high rate of poverty, Dogsbody's economic impact on the surrounding areas is undeniable. Producing more tangible products than all the other hollows combined, Dogsbody continues to be the backbone of Roach City industry.
